Providing internal audit solutions to clients as part of the good governance practices. Work undertaken as part of Internal Audit programme often involves the following types of work:

Compliance

• Compliance with legislative requirements, Australian Government and entity specific policies and procedures including assurance in respect of the Compliance matter;
• The adequacy and effectiveness of internal financial and operational controls including IT system controls; and
• The recording, control and use of the organisational assets.

Performance improvement

• Providing advice on the development of new programmes and processes and/or significant changes to existing programmes and processes including the design of appropriate controls.

• Assisting management to identify risks and develop risk mitigation and monitoring strategies as part of the risk management framework; and
• Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Fraud control

• Assisting management to identify the risks of fraud and develop fraud prevention and monitoring strategies; and
• Providing training around fraud awareness and prevention.
